STEPHEN VASSILAKOS
STEPHEN VASSILAKOS lives and works in Paris, France and spends summers on the Outer Cape. His present works are large format color studies derived from Nature; paintings on canvas and accompanying works on paper. Vassilakos sources color and light from the Paris sky, walks on Truro beaches and the California sun to create large paintings that employ bands of color with diffused edges and open brushwork that reveal the texture of his materials. These are painting of circumstance, memory, the temperature of color and the phenomenon of light.
Stephen Vassilakos attended The Massachusetts College of Art & Design and School of the Museum of Fine Arts of Boston. He exhibits regularly in the US and Paris and his work can be found in a number of select private collections including Incubator5066 and the Tia Collection.
