REBECCA DOUGHTY
The animals of childhood, both real and imagined, were my closest companions. They were confidants, comforters, clowns, heroes. They stood by me and stood in for me. I see them now as stand-ins for all of us, still navigating life’s comedies and tragedies, bearing the weight of our anxious world. ~RD
REBECCA DOUGHTY is a Boston-based painter, and has exhibited at The Schoolhouse Gallery since 2006. Her drawings and paintings have been exhibited widely, including the Drawing Center in New York, The Boston Drawing Project, DeCordova Museum, Rose Art Museum, Trustman Art Gallery, and The Courthouse Gallery in Co. Mayo, Ireland. For her work she has received fellowships and awards from The Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Ucross Foundation, Massachusetts Cultural Council, The A.R.T Fund, and the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) New England. Her work is in the permanent collections of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, The Ballinglen Museum of Contemporary Art, Simmons College, Fidelity Investments and others, as well as many private collections internationally.
