LESLIE MURRAY

LESLIE MURRAY received her BFA from Maine College of Art in 2008 and her Master’s degree from New York University in 2013. She has been awarded fellowships at the MacDowell Colony and twice at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. She currently lives in Harpswell, Maine and teaches at Maine College of Art.

Her paintings incorporate a formal landscape space and question identity and belonging within a more artificial and superficial sense of place. The work hinges on the translation between what exists in the physical world and the imagined, shinning augmentation of the natural. She is interested in the landscape as not simply what we observe, but as a way of seeing—interpreting and ascribing value.

Leslie is represented in depth at the Schoolhouse Gallery in Provincetown.
