NOT FOR ANOTHER HOUR, BUT THIS HOUR is a cycle of manufactured photographic images by artist Ted Kincaid.  It is a collection that continues the artist’s exploration of manufactured realities and the veracity of the photographic image through works that resonate with an elegant and somber beauty.  This special release portfolio is the only complete collection of these works available.

Kincaid’s sharp aesthetic turn from the minimalist compositions and cloudscapes that initially brought him critical attention has come to its fruition in a body of work that seduces the viewer to enter into the artist’s sublimely manufactured histories. Delicate works on paper evoke the nautical explorations of our dreams, bringing to vivid life a journey across the seas, when such adventures still represented a leap of both faith and imagination.  These works, though seemingly pulled from some other place and time, are in fact superb representations of the technical skills Kincaid has slowly mastered, to manufacture an eminently believable, but ultimately imaginary reality. Like our memories themselves, Kincaid’s images represent the construct of narrative from cognitive fragments and bits we piece together in an effort to remember.

Over the course of two decades, Kincaid has systematically subverted the notion of an objective photographic record. As his art continues to explore the play between painting and photography, Kincaid is one of several artists creating images in a new liminal territory informed by photo-imagery and photography influenced by painting. The artist has explored this conceptual discourse through multiple series of work, deftly riding the line between the real, the invented, and the fantastic.

Ted Kincaid lives and works in North Texas. He is exhibited and collected nationally and has received considerable critical attention for his photographically based work. He has been reviewed in ARTFORUM, ARTPAPER and ART ON PAPER and is included in the permanent collections of the Dallas Museum of Art; the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston; the Museum of Fine Arts in San Antonio; the Neiman Marcus Collection; American Airlines; the Belo Corporation; the Microsoft Corporation; Pfizer, Inc.; Reader’s Digest Corporate Collection; the City of Seattle, Washington; the U.S. State Department; and the Human Rights Campaign Headquarters in Washington, DC.

His work has been seen in many gallery exhibitions and is in numerous museum and corporate collections, as well as a number of commissions, including designing the cover for Neiman Marcus’ The Book twice, a large 22-foot mosaic for DFW International Airport’s Terminal D, and a two story mammoth cloud canvas that anchors Dallas’ Omni Convention Center Hotel.
